Hot Water Lobster to the rescue! This device can be described as a water circulator. The basic operation entails opening and closing a valve to circulate water through your pipes, which allows hot water to be available almost immediately. The best part about the operation of the "HWL" is that it is totally mechanical (no electricity required), silent and comes with a 10 year warranty. The HWL is also basically idiot proof when it comes to installation. If I can install this thing anyone can.
As part of the install I ran the recommended test to check the hot water lag. Before my install, it took 48 seconds for the shower water to warm up to a comfortable temperature. Take that number times the number of showers per year and you can really see how this little device can save you some major money and do something good for the environment. I did not time the lag on the sink faucets prior to the install, but I know from experience that it takes even longer for them to warm to a comfortable temperature. "The American Manufacturing Association has determined that a family wastes approximately 12,000 gallons of water just waiting for warm water."
The unit costs $180.00 and they were very fast at shipping the product out to me. I highly recommend this device to anyone looking for an economical way to combat the "Hot Water Lag Blues!"

Hi! Great pics of Jenna at one year and all others, too, of food, grill, etc.! ? about the lobster device-does it work with all faucets in your house or just the one in your bathroom shower? Sounds like a good way to save on the natural gas use of water heater and noticed our useage just > for some reason-that's the only thing we have that uses gas other than furnace and that hasn't been on in awhile.

Hey mom #2. It works for any faucet. We just put it in our bathroom because that is the farthest spot from our water heater and that way it provides hot water for all faucets that are connected to that line. It is hooked up under the bathroom sink, but because every faucet is served from one central line, it warms them all. The only issue we have had, is that it can take a little longer to get cold water since the device circulates warm water through the cold water line. I think this would probably not be much of a problem for you because your pipe run would be shorter than ours that spans three floors. Laura has enjoyed the quicker hot water as well.

Friction,
Thanks for the tip. I ordered one and it came really fast. Installed in a half an hour and I love it. Instant hot water, no more waiting for the shower to warm in the morning (I hated that). I used to have to wait almost two minutes for the water to heat up enough. No longer.
I installed it under my kitchen sink as it is the farthest away.
And, Man..sorry for blowing you off last week, it was a very bad week.
I will be back soon though, September at the latest.

Hey no problem, as it was a crazy week for me as well. I just finished re-current so I am glad that is behind me.
It is good to hear that the HWL is working for you. It really is a neat little device. I could of used this thing 5 years ago. Tell T and the kids I said hi.

How is your ice maker handling the HWL? Me- No ice and warm water from the ridge.
LMAO now that is funny. I don't have that problem with mine. I get cold water and ice as I normally would. What do you have the HWL set at?
